MESSAGE FROM
PREZ PATTY:
Rotarians, we're almost halfway through the Rotary year, and we're having fun!
Today is the first game of the Englewood Girls Basketball team. Bob and I are going. It's 6 p.m. at the high school, 3800 S. Logan. If you'd like to attend with us, zap me a note and I'll get your name added to the comp list. Walk in the front door, head straight ahead into the gym.
We've taken special interest in the team this year, and they've partnered with us on the sorting of the winter clothes for the Head Start kids.
Service-wise this year, we have:
- bought a basketball cage and team shirts for the girls basketball team,
- rung the bell for the Salvation Army,
- provided winter clothes for 60 Head Start preschoolers,
- donated $1,500 to the South Metro Community Foundation for the creation of a Homeless Navigation Center in Englewood.
We also took advantage of a district grant and spent $700 (plus a hundred) on re-branding -- getting new badges with the Rotary masterbrand, the one with the word ROTARY written beside the wheel. And we bought a new Four-Way Test banner and caps, as well. We've got Rotary style everywhere!
Tomorrow we'll have a little of this and a little of that instead of the usual one-topic program. Don Schneider will be telling us about his recent travels. I hope you have been enjoying this new feature when members share their travel experiences.
I believe we will be inducting a new member!
I'll be asking the bell ringers to tell us about their experiences on the "front line." And we'll do a fun "table talk" exercise.
So more fun! See you there! Patty
