MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT GARY:
Hi, Rotarians. I hope you are enjoying some of the first days of summer.
I thought we had a very fun and interesting Tour of the World last week, thanks to Peter and Linda Jeschofnig, and I appreciate their being able to provide us with so much information and great pictures in less than an hour. Thank you for such a fun presentation.
As you know, we will be having our Zoom meetings this week and next, and tomorrow will feature Sgt. Reid McGrath of the Englewood Police Department. He will talk about the Change the Trend, a collaborative effort to mobilize and equip the Englewood, Littleton and Sheridan communities to constructively address issues around homelessness.
On Wednesday, June 17, we will have Todd McPherson, development director of Integrated Family Community Services, who recently sent the club a very nice letter regarding our contribution to their program. He will speak about their community resources program, primarily focused on food bank services.
For our Happy Hour/Summer Party on June 24, Co-President Linda Spear has agreed to take on the responsibility, again, for another fun, group, Zoom night. She will be forwarding details about our get-together at the next few Rotary meetings.
So don’t miss our upcoming meetings and enjoy our Summer Party on the 24th. As is the tradition with the Club, we will be dark on July 1, due to the Fourth of July Celebration, so please enjoy a week away from our Zoom meetings;
I also think it is important that I provide the Board’s goals for our Club for the 2020-2021 year. These goals include: (1) Continuation and Enhancement of our Zoom meetings, (2) Support of RYLA, (3) Continuation of the Englewood Scholarship Program, (4) Continuation of our Grant Projects, (5) Holding a Successful Head Start Holiday Party and (6) Working with the High School Girls Basketball Team for mutual support.
In addition (7), we ask all members to continue to participate in the Paul Harris Fellowship program, donating to The Rotary Foundation's Polio Plus program and Annual Fund, as well as supporting in our local Foundation.
Finally, (8) we hope that we can continue to keep our members for this next year and add a member or two, so please invite guests to our Zoom meetings!!
You should also be aware that on rotary5450.org there is a lot of great information about clubs that are re-opening for in-person meetings, overall District activities and programs, and the upcoming R.I. Virtual Conference in Hawaii (at not cost this year). You can access the RI Convention at at www.riconvention.org, on June 20-26, and the 5450 Rotary Virtual District Conference on Aug. 29.
I wish you the best for the summer and look forward to seeing you this Wednesday on Zoom at 1 p.m. for a very interesting program about Englewood’s Change the Trend program.
